City water main break should be fixed soon; "boil water" advisory still in effect
By Frank Gerace

Wilmington officials now say the water main that broke Wednesday should be fixed soon, but a "boil water" advisory for affected residents remains in effect.

Officials say a "line stop" procedure involving stopping water flow with an inflatable bladder is working on the broken main at 16th and French Streets, but the advisory for residents of the area bordered by 7th Street to the south, 16th Street to the north, Washington Street to the west and French Street to the east should continue to boil any water they plan to consume or give to their pets until further notice.

Water should be brought to a rolling boil for a minute before using it.

The advisory doesn't apply to water for showering, or washing clothes or dishes.

Officials say the earliest the advisory could be lifted is Saturday.
