"We've got a number of other things in the works that we will be announcing very shortly," he said.

Markell spoke to the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce Tuesday morning.
"We're not going to be able to police our way out of this, although having police on the street is really important, and especially having them on the street walking can be very important, but then there's the social service piece of this as well, and we really have to look at it holistically, I mean, obviously these are incredible tragedies for the families and the neighborhoods, and we need to make sure we're doing everything we possibly can," Markell said.

Markell told the members that he was greeted by dozens of people as he visited the scene of one of last week's murders, and they told him they want more police, jobs, and things for their kids to do.
