Local chefs achieve culinary dreams

"Cooking is a passion. Everyone of these graduates has the passion," says instructor Chef Mark.

And it's that passion that's fueled all 11 chefs to achieve their culinary dreams and their diplomas.
Dustin Collins tells me his love for cooking traces back to his home, where it wasn't just women in the kitchen.
"When I was younger, my father, he always used to cook exotic dishes, and as a man, as a young boy, I'm like, 'Dad,you're cookin?'" asked Collins.

"What does your dad think of your food?" I asked.
"He loves it. But he still says he can cook better than me, but that's Dad," says Collins with a smile.

Collins thanks their instructor Chef Mark for his patience.
"Teaching us if we do something wrong, he wasn't a Chef Ramsay, but he actually took the time to show us. I mean sometimes he got his Chef Ramsay on," said Collins as the crowd laughed.

Nine of the eleven chefs have jump-started their careers. Collins is employed in the hot foods department at ShopRite.
