WDEL's Amy Cherry has the results.
The annual above-water inspection of the existing Indian River Inlet Bridge wraps up.

"Initial inspection just appears that everything is fine."

But DelDOT won't know for sure until mid-August when the final results are in. Tina Shockley with DelDOT says they don't anticipate any structural deficiencies with the old bridge.

"Just looking for any cracks or changes to the foundation of the bridge or any of the materials in the bridge to indicate a change due to weather or age or whatever. They're looking for any kind of change."

If changes are found that risk driver safety, Shockley says repairs will be made. But no major work is planned since the new Indian River bridge is scheduled for completion by the end of next year.
