Kent County sports complex gets funding
Updated Tuesday, July 17, 2012 - 2:49pm
Funding for Kent County's new sports complex is approved.
The Delaware Infrastructure Investment Committee has agreed to provide $3.2 million dollars to fund the sports complex project.
The athletic facility is projected to create 302 new jobs and have an economic impact of $18 million dollars annually.
Alan Levin, the Director of the Delaware Economic Development Office, says that this will help the state compete for more sports tourism.
The sports complex will contain an indoor facility and 15 fields, which will include a championship lit turf field. Officials believe that it could also draw up to 10 major sports tournaments a year.
