Trabant, who served as president of UD from 1968 to 1987 and again from 1988 to 1990, passed away Friday afternoon at Cokesbury Village Health Care Center in Hockessin after a brief illness.
The university underwent a significant expansion in enrollment and campus size during Trabant's first term, and in 1990, following his second, the board of trustees named him president emeritus.
The Trabant University Center was named in his honor in 1996.
E.A. Trabant was 92.
