The body of a Townsend man who was reported missing by his family Saturday night has been found in Blackbird Creek.

DNREC says 45-year-old John Fisher had gone crabbing Saturday afternoon on the creek. His family reported him to Fish & Wildlife Enforcement later that night as overdue from returning home.

A search was conducted overnight using a state police helicopter, Fish & Wildlife's canine unit, and two fire companies. Fisher's body was found near his boat about 11 a.m. Sunday. He was not wearing a life jacket, nor was there a life jacket in the boat. The boat was found upright on the water.

The body has been turned over to the medical examiner's office for determining the cause of death.
