Life jackets save children in near boating tragedy

It could've been a tragedy, but nine people, including six small children and an infant, are safe and sound after their boat sank in the Indian River Inlet Sunday.

Their 21-foot open bow boat hit waves as soon as it entered the inlet and started to sink instantly.

Passing boaters managed to save them, but DNREC officials say their real savior was that they were all wearing life jackets.
