Philadelphia man charged with assaulting state trooper
By Associated Press

State Police say a Philadelphia man tried to use a state trooper's electronic stun gun against her while struggling to avoid arrest.

Thirty-one-year-old Hughie Cooper has been charged with second-degree assault on a police officer along with resisting arrest and misdemeanor trespassing.

Police say the trooper spotted Cooper while searching for a man matching his description after a Dover resident reported a suspicious person on his property.

The 25-year-old trooper chased Cooper on foot. Police say she used her stun gun on him after he refused to show his hands. Police say Cooper was briefly subdued but then fought the trooper and turned the stun gun on her, causing a mild electric shock.

The trooper was able to break free and handcuff Cooper.
