Wilm doc suggests a vision check for back to school
By Mellany Armstrong

After a summer of playing video games and watching TV, a Wilmington optometrist say you should get your kid's eyes checked before heading back to school.

"Parents have to know, and educators have to know, that with the increase of usage with computers and video games and things like that, it is more likely to cause some change in vision," said Dr. Allan Tocker.

"Most people do not get their eyes examined until it's detected at school or it's a little bit late, so it's very important, since most of what we learned is learned through our eyes and visual processing, to have your young person make sure they can see properly," said Dr. Tocker.

Dr. Tocker says parents often don't see the signs that their child may need glasses or contact lenses, and it's important to establish a baseline of vision to detect any changes early.
