Dem candidates for County Council Prez debate on WDEL
Updated Tuesday, August 28, 2012 - 1:04pm
The Democrats who want to be New Castle County Council's next President outlined their crime-fighting strategies in a Monday debate at WDEL.
Reverend Chris Bullock and former County Police officer Renee Taschner rarely, if ever, disagreed during the forum.
Bullock said community policing was key, along with briefings for community residents, an effective, sufficiently-funded deployment strategy and increased trust between officers and community members.

Taschner also spoke in favor of community policing, and everything she says that strategy entails, including block-watch programs, fingerprinting for kids, and having officers walk a beat so they can interact with residents.
