Wesley College looks to bounce back from a rare regular season loss when they face off with Louisiana College Saturday night in Pineville, La.

The Wolverines' 32-25 defeat to Mary Hardin-Baylor was their first regular season home loss since a 27-26 setback to Montclair State on September 22, 2007. Before that, you have to go back to Novermber 1, 2003 against Salisbury to find the last time Wesley walked off Miller Stadium's turf unhappy after a non-postseason game.

After facing the No. 6 and 4 teams in the D3football.com top 25 poll in the win over Salisbury and loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor, this week the challenge is the 25th ranked team in the AFCA Division III coaches poll. The Wildcats (2-0) were projected to place 2nd in the American Southwest Conference, right behind UMHB.

Louisiana College has opened with a pair of road victories over NAIA teams: A 34-16 win over previous Wesley opponent Webber International (Fla.), and a 24-13 triumph over Belhaven (Miss.). The Wildcats are surrendering just 200 yards per contest, good for 8th in Division III, with less than half of that coming through the air.

Offensively they are led by Ryan Montague, who has rushed for 322 yards in the brief season, while quarterback Jamie Bunting has tossed for 496 yards.

La. College was a playoff contender last year, placing third in-conference with a 5-3 mark, and 7-3 record overall. They led UMHB 10-0 before ultimately falling in their matchup.

The game will have major playoff ramifications for both teams. Wesley probably cannot afford another loss if they want to return for their 8th straight post-season appearance, while a win would give Louisiana College a major bargaining chip for if they happen to lose one game in their ASC schedule.

WDEL will broadcast Wesley's first-ever game in Louisiana Saturday night at 8pmET (7:30 airtime).
