Wesley College will face their fourth straight nationally-ranked opponent when they tussle with No. 11 Birmingham-Southern Saturday at Miller Stadium in Dover.

After playing four games in four states to open the season, Wesley finds themselves at 3-1 and in the unusual position of looking for their first home victory as they enter the 2nd month of the year. Wesley College reports that it is believed that no Division III school has ever met four straight ranked opponents in the regular season.

Wesley's only home game ended in defeat as now-No. 2 Mary Hardin-Baylor came away with a 32-25 victory over the Wolverines 3 weeks ago.

Saturday Wesley will face 5-0 Birmingham-Southern in the first ever meeting between the South Region schools. BSC has put up some impressive offensive numbers, scoring 40 or more points in 4 of their 5 games including a 45-38 win at in-state rival Huntingdon, a school Wesley will face later this month.

The Panthers are led by senior quarterback Jimmy Stainback, who has thrown for nearly 800 yards and 8 touchdowns. Despite using a spread formation, tailback Joseph Moultrie rushes for nearly 9 yards a carry and has found the end zone 7 times.

Defensively the Panthers have also been stout, only allowing more than 14 points twice this season, with only a safety preventing a shutout at Rhodes in a 16-2 win two weeks ago.

The game carries heavy post-season implications: There is only one guarenteed playoff bid for the 11 schools that are not in an automatic bid conference, so the winner Saturday would take a big step towards qualifying for the post-season. Wesley has only one more Division III game remaining, when they play at Huntingdon.

Game time Saturday is set for 1pm, WDEL's coverage begins with the Saturday Football Center at Noon.
