Triple A Mid Atlantic reports the statewide average for a gallon of unleaded regular rose two cents to $3.78 at week's end.
Spokesperson Jana Tidwell says falling oil supplies are behind the price jump.
She says analysts expect gas prices to gradually ease over the coming days and weeks, with prices dropping below $3.50 a gallon by Thanksgiving.
