Car and van crash near Greenville

Emergency personnel in New Castle County had to extricate three people from a vehicle after a car and mini-van crashed near Greenville.

New Castle County Police say the accident happened Sunday at around 1 p.m. in the 200 block of West Rockland Road. Police say that three people in the car were trapped for up to 30 minutes. A 19-year-old female passenger was treated for head, leg and internal injuries and flown by a helicopter to a hospital in critical condition. The 20-year-old female driver of the car and a 21-year-old male passenger were both taken to a hospital and were in serious condition.

The two occupants of the van, a 40-year-old man and a 4-year-old boy, were taken to a hospital and were in stable condition.
