WPD: Driver who hit 2-year-old won't be charged; neither will parents
By Frank Gerace

Wilmington police won't file charges against the driver whose car hit a 2-year-old boy Thursday night, or the child's parents.

Police say the boy was trying to follow his father to the store when he ran out into traffic in the 15 hundred block of West 4th Street around 6:40.

A westbound car hit the boy, who suffered cuts to his head and legs.

West 4th Street was closed between North DuPont Street and Delamore Place for more than an hour afterward.

The 52-year-old driver stayed at the accident scene and cooperated with police, who say the boy should be released Thursday night from AI DuPont Hospital for Children.
