|Highlights from Cape Henlopen's 14-13 win over Caesar Rodney|
Despite an early two-touchdown deficit, Cape Henlopen came from behind to beat division rival Caesar Rodney 14-13 Friday night.
The Riders led 7-0 after the opening kick off returned by Kenall Wicks for 88 yards and then followed it on their next drive on Robert Holmes' 1-yard rush. The PAT would be blocked, a play that would be important later on.
The Vikings responded on their next drive when Quarterback Diaz Nardo connected on a pass to Dumarius Gooch for 36 yards to set up a 1-yard rushing touchdown by Cody Dmiterchik that narrowed the deficit to 13-7 early in the 2nd Quarter.
Nardo would score another touchdown on the Vikings' next drive to make it 14-13 at halftime.
Stingy defenses were the story of the second half--neither team made significant progress and traded punts throughout the 3rd Quarter and for most of the 4th.
But things got interesting with around a minute left in regulation after CR recovered a fumble and regained possession down only one point.
However, they couldn't score on their last drive after Cape's defense forced the the ball back into their possession to seal the 14-13 victory.
The win could create a logjam atop the Henlopen North division--Cape, Sussex Central and Caesar Rodney all have 1 conference loss. Point differential would be the tie breaker.
