DelDOT getting ready for Thanksgiving traffic crush
Updated Saturday, November 17, 2012 - 10:50am
Heavy traffic is likely over the upcoming holiday weekend, and DelDOT is getting ready.
Officials recommend motorists leave early to avoid the heaviest travel times.
Extra workers will be manning the tollbooths on I-95 and Route 1 at Biddle's Corner and Dover to help ease the flow.
DART buses will not run on Thanksgiving, but will resume a regular schedule Friday.
The department is suspending all construction lane closures starting Wednesday at noon; suspended construction will continue until early Monday.
To keep motorists aware of road conditions, Android phone users can download the DelDOT App, which links them to the latest news, traffic and travel information.
According to last years numbers the heaviest travel days are Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
