Archmere axes St. Georges in 1st round

In a close battle Saturday night, Archmere took down St. Georges in the 1st round of the High School Football Playoffs. The got scores from 3 different players, getting all of their points in the first half.

Connor Speidal struck first on a 23 yard run up the middle to make it 7-0. Following a St. Georges punt, quarterback Brian Rogers hooked up with Conor Furey in the back of the endzone making the score 13-0 following a missed extra point. The final points came on a Eliakim 1 yard touchdown run with time ticking down in the second quarter.

However 2 scores from Ty Griffin and Vaughn Simmons-Williams cut the lead to just 6. However after recovering a fumble in the closing minutes, Archmere secured the victory and move on to the second round.
