Windy weather and chilly temperatures didn't dampen the mood for the 49th annual Wilmington Jaycees Christmas Parade Saturday afternoon.
The event saw area marching bands, dance groups and boy scouts parading down Market Street to signal the beginning of the holiday season.
Children along the parade route were able to give letters to Santa Claus and watch some of their favorite cartoon characters ride by on floats.
Several city, county and state politicians also participated in the event, including U.S. Senator Tom Carper, Congressman John Carney and recently elected New Castle County Executive Tom Gordon and New Castle County Council President Chris Bullock.
