Two charged with Newark gun shop robbery try
Two suspects have been charged with a weekend robbery attempt at a Newark gun shop, and State Police say one of the two is also linked to a convenience store robbery spree early this month.
Police say Jean Encarnacion and Joshua Rodriguez used a shotgun and a sledgehammer to break into X-Ring Supply on Ogletown Road around 7 Saturday morning, but took off empty-handed after failing to steal any guns.
A witness spotted their car and described it to police, who pulled the two over shortly afterward and learned Encarnacion was linked to 4 robberies at convenience stores November 4th.
He and Rodriguez are being held at the Howard Young Prison on charges including robbery, conspiracy and attempted firearms theft.
