VIDEO: Highlights of Wilmington/Goldey Beacom plus comments from Dennis

Wilmington University's Herbert Dennis hit an off-balance shot off an offensive rebound with five seconds remaining, pushing the Wildcats to a 65-63 victory over in-state rival Goldey-Beacom Monday night.

Wilmington led by 11 at the half, but found themselves tied at 63 following a basket by Howard High alum Marcus Porter for Goldey-Beacom.

Dennis then drove into the lane, only to see his initial teardrop shot bounce off the left side of the rim. Following a scramble, he recovered the ball along the left baseline, and made a six foot shot while leaning away from the basket for the go-ahead points.

Following a timeout, Porter took an in-bounds pass 25 feet from the basket, and after a pump fake, he launched from 19 feet away, but his shot was off to the right to end a 5-game winning streak over Wilmington.

Four Wildcats reached double figures, led by Brandon Fox's 19 point effort. Isiah Mason scored 13 points off the bench, while James Pee scored 12 and Dennis had 10 for the winners.

Goldey-Beacom was led by Porter's 24 points and 12 rebounds, but they came up one basket short.

The teams will meet again in Pike Creek on January 8.
