By Frank Gerace

Demetrius Fiorentino
Wilmington police have arrested a convicted sex offender and charged him with shooting at another man.

Police say a bystander saw Demetrius Fiorentino running from the scene after a car was hit by a bullet in the 100 block of North Rodney Street around 8:15 Tuesday night.

Officers later spotted Fiorentino as he tried to get rid of a jacket in the 200 block of Delamore Place, and when the cops questioned Fiorentino, they found he had a gun on him.

As a convicted sex offender, Fiorentino is legally prohibited from carrying a gun.

He's now in the Howard Young Prison in lieu of bail, and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is continuing.
