By Don Voltz

A Townsend man, who hopped in a car left running at a Townsend gas station on Monday night, faces a slew of charges including motor vehicle theft.

Delaware State Police say 19-year old Vincenzo Tollis jumped in the idling car and took off...he led police on a chase to a dead-end in Middletown Village...when officers approached him, he backed up in their direction, forcing them to jump out of the way.

The pursuit then led to the development of Dove Run...the car hit a curb, and became undriveable. Tollis fled on foot but was captured by a K-9 unit.

Tollis is charged with reckless endangering, motor vehicle theft, resisting arrest and 13 other charges. He's being held at the Howard Young Correctional Institite in lieu of bail.
