Still looking for cause of Milford fire

No word yet on what caused a fire that destroyed one of Milford's oldest businesses.

About 50 firefighters from nine companies needed almost three hours to bring the 3-alarm fire at Warren Furniture under control Wednesday night.

The store has been owned by the same family since 1928, and Milford City Manager Richard Carmean says it's a big loss for downtown.

"I think the real tragedy is that this business has been there for 80-plus years. I came to Milford in 1970, and it was sitting there then for some 40-years. So it really is a loss as far as the historical implications," Carmean says.

Milford Tavern owner Rich Hoomans says the store's owner, Brett Warren, had been out of town for a few days and arrived home to find his business burning.

No one was inside the building at the time and no one was hurt.
