New Castle man accused of "dognapping"

A New Castle man is charged with stealing a dog on Christmas Day, and police are asking for your help finding the suspect and the dog.

County Police say James Worthy took the brown Yorkshire terrier when the dog's owner left the pooch outside her house on Freedom Trail around 5:45 PM Christmas Day.

The owner and several of her family members canvassed the neighborhood looking for the dog, and someone told them Worthy had tried to sell the dog at a nearby gas station.

Police learned the gas station has surveillance video of Worthy with a small dog in his jacket, and officers have talked to several witnesses who've confirmed that Worthy was trying to sell the dog.

You can see a photo of Worthy at wdel.com, and anyone with information can call County Police or Crimestoppers.
