WDEL's Frank Gerace reportsState Police say a car chase led to a crash on I-495 around 5:30 PM Wednesday.
Corporal Jon Day tells WDEL News the chase began in Maryland.
"Maryland state troopers pursued a suspect, who is believed to be an absconder from federal probation or parole, into Delaware on I-95, and on I-495 just south of Philadelphia Pike during the pursuit, his vehicle crashed with an abandoned vehicle that was on the side of the highway. The suspect suffered minor injuries, and was taken to Christiana Hospital to be treated for those. Troopers currently have him in custody, and are determining what charges are appropriate."
Day says police don't know yet if the man was under the influence at the time.
Lane restrictions were in effect on 495 northbound at the scene for about 45 minutes after the crash.
