DRBA official named NCCo public safety director

Col. Joseph Bryant, Jr.
County Executive Tom Gordon has named his director of public safety.

Col. Joseph Bryant, Jr., administrator of the Delaware River and Bay Authority's Police Department, will begin his new job on Jan. 14. He will retire Friday from his current post.

The News Journal reports that Bryant began his career in law enforcement in 1976 as a county police officer. He rose to the rank of major before retiring in 2000.

After 10 years as deputy administrator of the DRBA's police department, Bryant was promoted to administrator in 2010.
