Joan VerplanckWDEL has learned one of New Jersey's most powerful women will likely be the next leader of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce.
Sources tell WDEL's Amy Cherry Joan Verplanck will take over as President and CEO for Jim Wolfe who retired in July of last year. Rich Heffron has been serving as the Chamber's interim president.
Verplanck was the former President of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, but stepped down in 2010 due to a longstanding feud with Governor Chris Christie.
She currently serves as senior director at the commercial real estate firm Cushman and Wakefield in Morristown, NJ.
No word on when Verplanck officially takes over the top Delaware economic post, but an official announcement could now come as early as Monday night at the state Chamber's 176th Annual Dinner at the Chase Center on the Riverfront after the full DSCC board meets Monday afternoon to approve Verplanck.
