Sen. Coons, Gov. Markell Receive National Guard Award

U.S. Senator Chris Coons and Governor Jack Markell receives the National Guard’s Charles Dick Medal of Merit Saturday at Dover Downs.

The Charles Dick Medal of Merit was established in 1988. It was named after the Major General from the Ohio National Guard and recognizes the contributions and support to the National Guard through service in a state or national elected legislative body.

The award was given to Coons and Markell during the Delaware National Guard’s Senior Leaders Conference.

The notable honor has also been granted to former Delaware recipients such as Mike Castle, Joe Biden, Tom Carper and Ruth Ann Minner.
