Teen IDed in city's first murder of 2013
Updated Tuesday, January 29, 2013 - 5:34am
It's been two days since Wilmington saw its first murder of the year, and now we're hearing from the mayor.
Mayor Wlliams says "senseless crimes" like the fatal shooting Saturday night on East 24th Street that left 16-year-old Ahkee Flonnory dead won't be tolerated.
Flonnory was shot once in the head and died at the scene. A woman was also hurt in the shooting, but her identity is being withheld pending the investigation.
Wilmington Police say they have several witnesses, and Williams says they're doing everything they can to find those responsible though so far they've got no suspects or a motive.
In a statement, Williams reiterated his commitment to curbing crime and making communities safer as his top priority.
