Expanding language skills for Delaware students
By Peter MacArthur

More Delaware students are on the way to being multi-linqual as the state expands its World Language Immersion Expansion Initiative.

Starting in the fall, close to a thousand kindergartners and first graders around Delaware can start learning Mandarin Chinese or Spanish.

Three elementary schools are taking part in the program this year. An additional seven will participate next school year.

State officials expect ten thousand students in K-8th grade to be involved in those programs by 2022.
