Foot chase ends in gun arrests in Wilm.
By Michelle Provencher

A routine patrol leads to an unexpected foot-chase and the arrests of two young Wilmington men.

Two officers were driving on East 23rd St. just after 8 Monday night when they spotted a black Ford Crown Victoria idling on the block.

As the police cruiser reversed back toward the idling car, a man exited the driver side and took off running down an alleyway.

Next, the passenger left the vehicle, but he only casually walked away.

Police say they arrested the driver, 20-year-old Diamere Wright, without incident.

19-year-old Lettommy Ballard was arrested as he attempted to scale a fence.

Cops say they found an automatic handgun in Ballard's pants, and a search of the Crown Vic turned-up another revolver.

Both were committed to the Howard Young Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 each.
