Troopers cut out of patrol car after Chester Co. crash
By Mellany Armstrong

Two Pennsylvania state troopers are in Christiana Hospital after an early-morning crash in Chester County.

The troopers were on Route 796 near Kelton Road, heading to a burglary in progress at 5:30 a.m. when their patrol car went off the road and hit a tree. The troopers were knocked out and the vehicle caught fire, fully engulfing the front part of the patrol car.

Troopers responding to the same incident helped put out the flames with fire extinguishers, and by running to nearby homes to get buckets of water.

Rescue crews got the troopers out by taking off the roof of the patrol car. They are in serious condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
