Three people were hospitalized after a head-on collision between two minivans in Wilmington.

It happened just after 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of N. Broom and W. 4th streets. Wilmington police say a minivan traveling westbound on W. 4th Street at a high rate of speed crossed into the eastbound lane and struck another minivan.

Police say the collision sent the first vehicle airborne before it rolled several times and struck multiple parked cars. Two men were trapped inside the vehicle for about 40 minutes.

The occupants of the airborne minivan and the woman driving the second vehicle were transported to Christiana Hospital and police say their conditions are unknown.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information can call Wilmington police or CrimeStoppers.
