Theft suspect, shot by police was allegedly swinging shovel wildly
A State Police officer shoots a theft suspect in Lewes.
It happened at Plantations and Cedar Grove Roads around 1 p.m. Tuesday following a car and foot chase. Police say Keith Schueller of Rehoboth Beach was swinging a shovel wildly when the officer fired one round at him.
Schueller was taken to Beebe Medical Center, where he's in critical condition.
State Police say Schueller was wanted on felony theft charges. He's also a suspect in a string of burglaries in Sussex County.
