Girls get an intro to careers in science, engineering
Updated Friday, February 22, 2013 - 12:27pm
DuPont and the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay are trying to get more girls to consider a career path in engineering and other science-related fields.
Girl Scout Councils from around the state and from Pennsylvania and Maryland are taking part in a day of fun and learning called Engineering Your Tomorrow.
Tara Condon-Tullier with DuPont says 150 6th, 7th and 8th grade girls will hopefully walk away with, not only a better understanding of science, but a passion for it.
"Engineering is really creative problem solving. You really get to in and change the way people think and bring science to life," says Condon-Tullier.
