Stay safe, and respectful, in funeral processions
Updated Monday, February 25, 2013 - 2:16pm
A funeral procession rolls by as you wait at a stop sign - what do you do?
The incoming president of the Delaware State Funeral Directors Association says you should NOT jump into the line of cars.
"It's really the outside the procession that, as an industry, I think that we're seeing more of a problem, the cutting in and out," said Matthew Smith.

Smith, who co-owns Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes, says current state law isn't detailed enough and community rules need to be consistent in Delaware.
"It's not specific as far as spelling out what is the right thing, or what is legal or not legal as far as red lights, and can you go through them," he said.

Smith says there is proper etiquette, and it's all about respect and safety. He hopes to make Delawareans more aware of what it right and wrong over his two-year term.
