Markell tells WDEL he exchanged ideas and concerns with the leaders of other states at last weekend's meeting of the National Governor's Association.
He says as the cuts become more apparent his ability to carry out plans for Delaware may be stifled.
"If you're asking for wiggle room, that presumably means how would I make up with state funds for some of the federal funds? And that would then require even additional cuts on things we're already doing as a state. So there's nothing easy about this," says Markell.
Markell says cuts in military spending could impact folks in Dover, and the uncertainty may wind up shrinking a growing job market.
