No. 24 Tatnall upsets Wilmington Christian

No. 24 Tatnall upset No. 9 Wilmington Christian 50-33 to advance to the second round of the DIAA Boys' Basketball Championship.

Tatnall's defense got off to a good start as they held the Warriors to only seven points in the first quarter to get a 14-7 lead.

The Warriors got into a rhythm in the second after Nathan Hickman picked up a steal and fastbreak lay-up to swing momentum. Wilmington Christian went into intermission only down 23-19.

Tatnall began to pull away in the third quarter starting with a three pointer from Ian Cella-Hoffman. The Hornets defense once again held Warriors to three points in the third quarter and led 34-22 going into the fourth quarter. Wilmington Christian was never able to get the deficit under 10 the rest of the way.

Joe Cooper led Tatnall with 15 points, while Nathan Hickman led the Warriors with 19 points. Tatnall will be at eighth seed Wilmington Friends on Saturday at 5pm.
