County police investigate apparent attempted murder/suicide

County police are investigating an apparent attempted murder/suicide near Middletown that left a man dead and his wife hospitalized.

It happened just before 4:00 a.m. Friday morning at a home on the 500 block of Red Oak Drive of the Great Oaks Community, where officers responding to an apparent armed suicide found an unresponsive 46-year-old woman who'd been shot in the upper body.

Police say her husband, 65-year-old Ellsy Musgrove was also found with a self-inflicted gunshot would to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

His wife was transported to Christiana Hospital, where she's being treated for her injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact County Police or CrimeStoppers.
