VIDEO: Highlights and Reaction from Appoquinimink vs. Caesar Rodney

No.5 Appoquinimink overcame a sluggish start to roll past No. 12 Caesar Rodney 48-31 in the 2nd round of the DIAA Girls' Basketball State Tournament Friday night.

The Jaguars were held scoreless over the first 6:21 of the contest, but CR could only manage a 4-0 advantage spurred by a Shakyra Cephas three-pointer.

CR eventually stretched their lead to 17-12 following three straight baskets by Chakia Young, before Appo went on a game-changing 17-3 run which bridged the two halves.

Appoquinimink, which settled for jump shots in the opening half, passed the ball proficiently in the final sixteen minutes, using the inside combination of Amber Cale (12 Points) and Pa'Ris Christie (17 Points) to successfully navigate the CR zone.

The Blue Hen Conference champions advance to face No. 4 Ursuline Wednesday night at St. Mark's. CR's season ends at 12-10 despite 15 points from Young.
