Video: Game Highlights Carvel vs. St. Marks and Reaction

Caravel outscored St. Marks 23-6 in the opening quarter and never looked back. The Buccaneers (17-5) rolled to an easy 62-33 victory over the Spartans in a DIAA Girls Basketball Quarterfinals game at Smyrna High School.

The Buccaneers came out prepared on both offense and defense, holding one of St. Marks' high scorers, Jenna Wolff, to just six points.

With 5:46, Caravel senior, Yasmin Walker gave the spectators a nice shake-and-bake to give the Buccaneers a 27-6 lead in the second.

Ky'Asia Stanford led Caravel at the half with 10 points. Stanford finished with 14.

In the second half, Caroline Davis sank a three-ball to give the Bucs a 42-19 advantage with a little under three minutes remaining in the third. Caravel led 44-32 at the end of three.

In the final quarter, Caravel's Micah Morgan opened scoring with a nice lay-up to keep momentum on the Bucs side until the very last minute. Morgan led all scorers with 15 points.

Buccaneers' senior, Heather Wiley, finished scoring with an inside bucket, and Caravel advances to the semifinals. They will go head-to-head against No. 2 seed Sanford. Caravel lost to Sanford this season 58-37 in late January.
