A 13-year-old boy is hospitalized after colliding with a car on Route 40 in New Castle.

State Police say the teen was attempting to cross the highway on his bicycle, and accidentally rode into the door of a 2006 Chevrolet Cavalier Monday evening.

The boy was airlifted to A.I. duPont Hospital for Children with minor injuries.

The driver of the car is a 28-year-old New York man.

The roadway was temporarily shut down.
