Local congregation holds garage sale to buy bikes for Kenyans
By Amy Cherry

A local congregation of the sisters of St. Francis needs your help for a good cause.

They're hosting a garage sale to buy bikes for students in Kenya.

Sister Corda Marie Bergbauer is with the fundraising efforts.

"Some of the children have to come almost two to three hours to the school that they have setup in Kenya, and they walk," she says.

Corda says these children need a better way to get to school.

"We're talking about five, six, seventh, eighth graders, many of the children are children of AIDS, people who have died," she says.

Sister Corda says they need our help too.

"We have so much here in the United States, we've got to share. I know my sister says, there's plenty of places in Philadelphia. There are, but there's plenty of people to help Philadelphia and Wilmington, and some of us have to help Kenya and Zambia," says Sister Corda.

The garage sale runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday in Aston across from Neumann University's parking lot.
