Tower Hill knew going into Saturday's match up against an undefeated St. Mark's boys lacrosse team would be a challenge, but Andrew Pettit's seven goals helped the Hillers (7-1) knock down the Spartans 16-11 in a non conference battle.

The Hillers' offense attacked first with two goals from sophomore Pettit and Samuel Murphy to gain an early 2-0 lead.

Although the Spartans tied the game at two closing the first quarter, Tower Hill answered in the second after winning three straight face-offs and scoring on the possessions to jump ahead 5-2.

St. Mark's Michael Walsh and James Magnani kept the Spartans within reach, but Hillers' James Togo scored with 53 seconds left in the half to keep Tower Hill ahead 7-5.

Magnani, who tallied 6 goals in the game, scored four times in the third, and St. Mark's trailed 11-9 going into the final period.

The Hillers controlled the last quarter and secured the win with goals from William Mette, Murphy, Benjamin Manning and two by Pettit.

The Hillers only loss this season comes from New Jersey's Hun School, and they will face St. Andrew's on Thursday. St. Mark's (7-1) will try and bounce back on Monday when they travel to Sussex Tech.
