Robbery at Newark Wawa
By Carl Kanefsky

A man steals several cartons of cigarettes from a Newark convenience store, after the clerk refuses to give him money from the cash register.

State Police say it was just before 1:30 Monday morning when a man went into the Wawa on Route 4 at Route 72.

They say he demanded money from the female clerk, but she said no and walked away from the register.

At that point, the man went behind the counter, grabbed the cigarettes, and took off.

The suspect is described as a white man between the ages of 40 and 50. He has a thin build, and was about 5'6''.

Anyone with information should call State Police, Crime Stoppers, or use the new Delaware State Police Mobile Crime Tip app on their smart phone.
