Newark's GE Aviation to add 60+ jobs with state grant

With the approval of $1.1 million in state grants, GE Aviation says it plans to add dozens of jobs at its Newark plant.

Delaware's Economic Development office tells WDEL the company will add more than 60 jobs in the next few years and maintain those levels until 2018.

The company will use the grant money to renovate and expand the 110,000-square-foot facility.

Aviation comprises three-quarters of the factory's work. It has been limited to limited to research and development, but parts made at the facility are expected to be placed in large aircraft soon.

The facility employs some highly skilled workers, with an average of 20 years' experience.
