Newark Police are looking for the man behind a Saturday afternoon robbery of a Newark area jewelry store.

It happened around 3:20 p.m. when police say a man asked to look at several pieces of jewelry at Anemoni Jewelers on Papermill Road and after several minutes he fled the store on foot with the valuables.

The clerk chased the suspect behind the shopping center and then to a parked vehicle. He jumped onto the hood of the SUV as it began to speed away but was thrown off the vehicle when it hit a curb.

The suspect fled and the clerk was transported to Christiana Hospital and treated for a broken hand.
