Some Appoquinimink school district students are not in their normal school after the smell of some weed killer prompted officials to move some kids.

The stuff was being applied around the perimeter of Redding Middle School Monday morning when the smell from it got inside the school through the air exchange system.

District officials say the product is Roundup, which is available for home use.

As a precaution, students were first taken outside and then transferred to Middletown High School, from which they'll be dismissed at their regular time.

District officials say they checked with a regional poison center and found out that Roundup carries a strong odor but isn't volatile to the system.
